![]() I'm interested to hear how you guys adjudicate blindsight. Spells like phantasmal force and mental prison are almost certainly outside of blindsight's purview as they are combat spells which do not mention blindsight (unlike blur and mirror image, which do). However, there is an argument to be made that blindsight does pierce all incorporeal illusions. Major image is a spell that blindsight probably doesn't see through automatically. Alternatively, it could allow you to make a Wisdom (Perception) check to do the same. Is blindsight keen enough by default to allow characters to effortlessly see through them, or is it only enough to see outlines? If it's somewhere in between, it could be incorporated as a bonus to your Intelligence (Investigation) check to see through the disguise. ![]() The problem grows more hazy when you take magical disguises into account. It seems reasonable that it would nullify minor illusion and silent image, or at least give advantage on checks to discern such illusions. Something that is unclear is how blindsight interacts with other illusions. However, blur and mirror image also state that creatures relying on blindsight are unhindered by their effects. Creatures without eyes, such as oozes, and creatures with echolocation or heightened senses, such as bats and true dragons, have this sense.īlindsight's main advantage in combat is that it allows you to attack enemies without suffering drawbacks while you can't see them. Regardless, all of these disparate senses are wrapped into one bundle of mechanics called blindsight: Ī creature with blindsight can perceive its surroundings without relying on sight, within a specific radius. Bats have echolocation, dragons see different timelines (or something, I didn't read Fizban's), and oozes have.
